Each month we wait ever so patiently to see who will win the national Grand Cordon competition and what the main ingredient for the challenge will be. When it is revealed, we can’t wait to share it with you.
This month we fell in love with “The Legacy,” the award-winning cocktail created by Derek Smith from Nobu Dallas. With the main ingredient for this month’s challenge being lemongrass, we were curious to see where our bartender’s minds would go with this one. Derek drew from personal experience to build the flavors of this beautiful drink, as he grew up in Thailand and wanted to create a drink that brought true authenticity to the table.
Made with Kai lemongrass shochu, lemongrass, cilantro, serrano chile slices, and lychee juice, “The Legacy” is finished with a lemon peel and half of a lemongrass salt rim that really does pay tribute to Derek’s upbringing.
