South Beach Wine & Food Festival 2013

Many words come to mind when you think of South Beach: ultimate luxury, true sophistication, unparalleled nightlife, pioneering cuisine. The food scene in Miami has exploded over the past decade, allowing the Latin and Caribbean-influenced fare to be a canvas for the world’s up and coming chefs to create their newest creations. Because this environment is one where chefs can experiment and flourish, it is one of the most sought after locations to build a culinary career. For those who already have made their culinary print in history or are on their way to greatness, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival is their time to shine.

With the festival approaching its 12th year and being celebrated February 21st- 24th, it continues to leave its guest’s taste buds yearning for more. Celebrity chefs and culinary personalities gather to display their latest fare, conduct on-site demonstrations, and host several events honoring the legends of the food world.

Each year, a selected chef(s) is honored for their culinary achievements and their contributions to the world of food. This year, we are thrilled to announce that Chef Nobu Matsuhisa will be honored at a Tribute Dinner that will display the genius and innovation Chef Matsuhisa has introduced to the culinary world. Along with Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, the festival will also be honoring Christophe Navarre of Moet Hennessy for his leadership and contribution to the wine and spirit industry. This once in a lifetime dinner will be presented by Martha Stewart, who will be acting as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. While this event is intimate and exclusive, there are some invitations available to the public so you too can have the opportunity to witness history in the making. (Tickets are available at http://www.sobefest.com/events).

Want to get immersed in the beach life and go vegetarian at the SBWFF? You can still indulge and experience everything Chef Nobu brings to the table with his exclusive Vegetarian Dinner that will take place in his own Miami restaurant at The Shore Club with the help of his right-hand man Chef Thomas Buckley. Many know Nobu Matsuhisa for his various fish preparations such as Black Cod Miso and Yellowtail Jalapeno, but his extensive knowledge of food and flavors has helped launch his well-received Vegetarian Cookbook. Not only is Chef Nobu a strong influence in the culinary field, but he was one of the first supporters of the SBWFF, therefore his loyalty continues to be honored year after year. Tickets are very limited but are available for purchase (http://www.sobefest.com/events).

Along with the Tribute Dinner, chefs and guests alike are invited to attend the Celebrity Golf Tournament hosted by Chef Jose Andres. This event is one of many that showcases the incredible personalities that these chefs and culinary leaders present to onlookers and admirers. Pair up with your favorite chef, spirit maker, or wine producer to help guide you through the greens and through each dish that will be presented that day.

When all is said and done, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival is one of the most recognized and prestigious events of the year. Food enthusiasts and hopefuls travel all across the country to be in the presence of the most popular and revolutionary chefs the world knows, and it is well worth the trip.
